Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Training Academy
West Virginia University will host the eighth annual Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Training Academy June 7 through June 13 in Morgantown, West Virginia. The academy
is presented by the Mid-Atlantic Forest Fire Compact, the West Virginia University Division of Forestry and Natural Resources, and the USDA Forest Service.
The Wildfire Academy will offer a suite of courses in essential wildland firefighting skills, from basic to advanced levels. The courses will meet the
National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards, and upon successful completion of the class a student will receive a NWCG certificate. The
instructors are NWCG certified and will be from states in the Mid-Atlantic area.
The classes will be held on the campus of West Virginia University and are limited in size to promote the best learning experience. Several of the courses
have pre-course work that the student must complete before attending the class. All classes will include either written or practical tests used to judge
the student's comprehension of the subject matter.
